Job title:         National Communications Director

Reports to:      World Moo Duk Kwan® Integrated Communications System

Task:               To support all official public facing communications


The National Director of Communications (NDC) is responsible for leading and managing the organization’s communications activities in their specific country. This includes developing, guiding, and executing communications strategies, managing a team of Moo Duk Kwan® professionals, and building relationships with key stakeholders.

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Develop, guide, and execute communications strategies that align with the World Moo Duk Kwan® overall philosophy, goals, and objectives.
  • Manage a team of communications contributors, including writers, editors, and social media managers.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including the media, potential government channels, and key supporting stakeholders.
  • Create, guide, and distribute content that informs and engages the public about the organization’s work.
  • Educate and guide the contributing authors on the type of communication styles appropriate for a range of platforms.
  • Make timely recommendations for improvement.
  • Report to the World Moo Duk Kwan® every two (2) months with the communications activity in their respective country.
  • Create and distribute content that is aligned to the World Moo Duk Kwan® philosophy and support the chain of command which informs and engages the wider membership and general public about the organization’s work.
  • Assist and guide the management the national organization’s website and social media channels.
  • Respond to media inquiries.
  • Represent the organization at public events and conferences as required.


To include at least four (4) of the following qualifications. Qualifications marked * are critical:

  • Minimum of five (5) or more years membership with World Moo Duk Kwan®
  • *Strong writing, editing, and design skills.
  • Excellent public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to manage, guide and motivate colleagues.
  • Strong strategic and analytical skills.
  • *Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • *Fluency in the national language as well as English or Spanish.


Day to day duties

  • Develop, guide, edit, and share communications that align with the organization’s overall goals and objectives.
  • Manage a team of communications providers, including writers, editors, and social media content providers.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including the media, government officials, and donors.
  • Create, guide, and distribute content that informs and engages the public about the organization’s work.
  • Support the management of the organization’s national website and social media channels.
  • Respond to media inquiries and manage crises as needed.
  • Share successes with the international group of World Moo Duk Kwan® National Communication Directors.

Additional tasks

  • Conduct research and analysis to identify key messages and audiences.
  • Develop and manage budgets for communications activities.
  • Measure the effectiveness of communications campaigns.
  • Stay up to date on the latest trends in communications and technology.
  • Provide strategic advice to senior leaders on communications matters.

Policies and protocols of the ICS

  • Social media:
    • The NDC should consider how coordination and responsibility between different areas will operate to create a harmonious environment.
    • The NDC should also guide appropriate monitoring of social media in conjunction with their wider communications strategy.
    • The policy and protocol should be developed in consultation with all stakeholders, including staff, management, and external partners. It should be regularly reviewed and updated to ensure that it remains relevant and effective.
